To celebrate the rich diversity and culture of Los Angeles, the heritage month’s steering committee hosted a poster contest for all K-12 students in Los Angeles County. The contest allowed students an opportunity to study the City’s heritage and celebrate its history through their creativity and artistic skill.
The contest’s first, second and third-place winners received savings bonds from competition sponsor Wells Fargo and free tickets to Disneyland from the heritage month’s title sponsor, The Walt Disney Company. Students receiving honorable mentions for their work were awarded art books from the City’s Department of Cultural Affairs.
The theme of the competition was “Honoring Our Pioneers and Uniting Future Generations.”
